A Bunch of Suggestions

Mega's S.A.O. Suggestion List!



  • First Boss drops "Cloak of Midnight" (Kirito's cloak). Maximum durability. || Not Going to be done. No icon for it -Haru
  • Levels can be hidden by choice by the player.
  • An item that allows the user to view all hidden information about other players. Maximum of 10 uses. Once the item's uses are used up, the item will be destroyed.
  • A cloak to hide a player's moral status (The Green / Orange / Red Status thing). High durability.
  • An item that hides a player's moral status. Low durability.
  • A crafting system for weapons, armor, shields, and other items.
  • In the BETA Test, players should write down all of the information that they want future players to know into a word document and send it to a Staff member to make into a Guide for beginners (which will be sold for free at the nearest store in The Town of Beginnings).
  • A cut-scene when you first start the game that shows the "Welcome to Sword Art Online!" message, like in Episode 1 of Sword Art Online.
  • A sound effect of Kirito saying "Link Start!" when you start the game (before the cut-scene). || Done - Haru
  • When players are in a Guild, there will be a small square symbol above their health like in Sword Art Online Episode 3.
  • Teleportation Crystals that teleport you to any town you've previously visited.
  • An in-game pop-up messaging system.
  • A way to send a message to a player without the player being online.
  • A way to have a message be sent at a specific time the sender decides.
  • A command that allows you to see the path a player in your friend list has taken recently like in Sword Art Online Episode 3.
  • Teleportation Nullification areas like in Sword Art Online Episode 3.
  • Chests with treasures scattered around the maps. The chests will give random items to players. 70% Common items, 20% Unique items, 10% Rare items, etc. Like that.
  • Trapped chests. If it has treasures, it will act as a normal chest would, but trapped. If it is empty, the player just gets attacked by a bunch of monsters for nothing. These trapped chests will block Teleportation Crystals from working once opened.
  • On Christmas Eve, an incredibly strong NPC called "Nicholas the Renegade" will appear in a snowy area around fir trees, like in Sword Art Online Episode 3.

For the chests, I think they should have a randomized system based on item rarity. With a chance of getting a different item for each player so no one tells of where they find rare treasures or something along those lines.
ex.
Common Item 70% Chance
Quality Item 30%
Rate Item 10%

More complex of course, just an example.

I did like most of these suggestions though.

The game is based purely on SAO. If they want to change the names, they can. Not my call.

Surely uniques should be rarer than rare! Also, unique should be like 1/0.5 %... Really rare.
But I do think that many in-game events will be based on episodes from the series e.g. nicholas the renegade.

All are from the anime really though and so I think that many have already been considered by the devs. After all, the game is SAO.

A Bunch more Suggestions!

  • Nicholas the Renegade drops an item that can revive a player to full health within 10 seconds of their death.
  • Pets that can be tamed / bought by players.
  • Pets can have special abilities such as healing, removing negative status effects, etc.


No need to double post, Hayabusa. The in-game cash prize isn't that important...

I like the suggestions but I do have to point out something.

As awesome as that sounds, I'm pretty sure that this is impossible for Byond. It would cause such mayor lagg problems when called upon and surely if you have more then 1 friend. Other then this suggestion everything seems doable.

Levels can be hidden by choice by the player.

mob/verb/Hide_Level()
>var/mob/actualLevel = src.shownLevel
>src.shownLevel = "Unknown"

Show Level just replaces src.shownLevel with the actualLevel variable.

Most of these things are doable. But the arrows thingy? That's Bioshock Infinite scale of a team required and the lag. Oh my gawd. And the RAM. And the avoiding opaque objects. Maybe it could just give the general direction.

Have 8 directions and when the Path tracker is called, compute the src's location against the mob that it is called against and just flick(50) one arrow so they have the general sense as to where they are. And have a massive cooldown on it.

  • Only one pet per player can be brought back to life using the Pneuma Flower on floor 47.
  • The Pneuma Flower is an item. One flower per player.
  • Health potions should instead be Health Crystals.
  • Players can name their pets / pets have automated names.
  • Only Beast-Tamers can have pets.
  • Pets can only be revived three days after they've died.
  • When entering a new area, the name of the area will appear at the bottom of the player's screen.
  • An item called a Mirage Sphere that shows a map of any floor you choose that has been unlocked.


All ideas from Sword Art Online Episode 4.

Also, almost all of your suggestions have been very good. But they are not really unique. They are pretty much all just the anime stuff put into the game and I think that that was happening already...

When you leave is it going to be like you goto sleep and you are open to the world unless you go into an inn, And will a player be able to lockpick the doors and make you kill yourself or kidnap you then kill you? If thats possible that should be a really high level skill, also hearing through doors would hat be possible :0

For the three day thing, a player-time system would need to be implemented, not too hard. As for the hearing through doors thing; As explained in SAO it is a type of skill that can be leveled. I suppose the skill could increase the range at which a player could receive IC messages (view).

Episodes 5-6

  • Weapon appraisal. Blacksmiths can learn a skill that allows them to Appraise an item and see who created it.
  • Tracking darts. These can be painlessly placed on a target. Allows the user to know where the target is at all times by using a command associated with the item.
  • Users with a high Stealth level have a force field that blocks tracking darts.
  • Plays who marry each other have a shared inventory.

It's pretty much a projectile that will give the user the ability to see the person that it hit's coordinates. That's what I imagined it as atleast. lol.

Episode 7
  • On Floor 55, a dragon will be there that drops a "Crystallite Ingot" used to make an incredibly strong and incredibly rare item.
  • Only a high leveled Blacksmith can use the "Crystallite Ingot" dropped from the dragon on Floor 55.


Not really much happened. I also watched Episode 8. Nothing really happened there either to suggest... o.o
